The Flatiron Building

[Flitiron Building, New York]

It's a triangle, if not obvious from this vantage point. Now a landmark, in 1902 when it was built, it was one of only two "skyscrapers" north of Manhattan's 14th Street, which was the northern frontier in some ways, and home to burlesque and New York's first theater district. "Uptown" there was still undeveloped land and a few pioneering "modern" complexes such as The Dakota, which for some was as about as far from " the city" as the Dakotas.
