Hilo is a rain forest, which offers 'mangos and bananas you can pick right off the trees' (with a long pole). Above are Apple Bananas, smaller and sweeter than the bigger, yellower Henry bananas. They say these are the best for shelf life as well as baking.




While it rains a lot in a rainforest, there is also plenty of sunshine and all kinds of beautiful flowers, some cultivated (like orchids) and much of it wild.
