Here is a classic image of Times Square/Broadway circa early 1980's. Note the Checker Cab, Calvin Klein and Bud billboards, Orange Julius, and not-yet-neon signs.
Yes, I do believe that the Orange Julius store and Calvin Klein billboard (just above the Checker cab on the bottom left) is now the big Mr. Peanut.
Directly to my right here is now the neon Nasdaq building (or LCD)...
