Here's but one of the incredible views one sees in driving across Maui's famed Hana Highway.
This is one of those images which came to life for me after reading Michener's Hawaii, with the history of the early missionaries and the stories of ancient Hawaii's origins as eruptions of the first Volcanos to become the land we call Earth.
From Madame Pele, molten lava continues to make new land. Here we see how volcanic ash has turned to black sand beach after countless centuries.
