Prague (Praha) - Czech Republic

Prague-Praha, Czech Republic

Prague is often described as the city which has miraculously remained intact over the centuries, spared from war and natural disaster (despite being occupied by both the Third Reich and then the Communist Party) and now custodian to centuries of European culture ranging from prehistoric to recent dynasties. With rooftops seemingly alive with a population of their own (statues), the ornate buildings compete with each other for opulence and purity of Baroque or Gothic or Cubist or Neo-classic influences. There are local legends and historical monuments everywhere. Locals brag about the beer, too (pilsner).
