King Kamehameha's View
![[View of Kona from Kamehameha's Palace]](kona2.jpg)
Kona, Hawai'i
This was taken near the Palace of King
Kamehameha, on the "Big Island" of Hawai'i. Kamehameha was the last of the line
of Great Hawaiian kings, as best described in Michener's
Hawaii, and with great historical and emotional
poignancy in Helena Allen's (much smaller) paperback,
The Betrayal of Princess Liluokalani: Last Hawaiian Queen.
In the background center, with
proper resolution, brown patches can be seen,
which are your basic Kona coffee beans,
unique in their taste due to both lineage and
the rich volcanic soil.
